Cookie Policy
Last updated: 4 August 2026
This policy explains how the Conversation Matcher website uses cookies and similar technologies. The short version: we set no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, we use Google Analytics only if you agree to it, and we do not sell your data.
Do we use cookies?
Two things, and only one of them is a cookie. We always store a functional theme preference on your device. Separately, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people find useful — and those cookies are only set after you accept them in the banner shown on your first visit. There are no advertising cookies, no advertising pixels, and no cross-site tracking on this website.
Until you accept, Google Analytics runs with storage switched off (Google’s Consent Mode): it sets no cookies and cannot identify you or recognise you across visits. If you decline, it stays that way.
Your choice
You can change your mind at any time, and withdrawing is as easy as agreeing. Your choice is remembered per device and per browser.
Declining removes consent for future analytics cookies. To also delete analytics cookies already on your device, clear this site’s data in your browser settings (see below).
What we store
Always — functional, on your device only
Two preferences, both in your browser’s local storage rather than in cookies. Neither leaves your device, is sent to our servers, or is used to identify you: theme remembers your light or dark choice, and cookie-consent remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics, so we do not ask again on every page.
Only if you accept — Google Analytics 4
Set by Google Analytics (provider: Google Ireland Limited) to measure visits and which pages are read. We use the aggregate reports; we do not use this data to build advertising profiles, and Google Signals and advertising features are not enabled on our property.
- Cookies: _ga and _ga_<property-id>, first-party, expiring after 2 years.
- Purpose: count visits, measure which pages and topics are useful, spot broken journeys.
- Set when: only after you press Accept. Never before, and never if you decline.
- Transfers: Google may process data outside the EU under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses.
- You can withdraw consent above, and clear the cookies any time via your browser settings.
Fonts and images
Fonts and images are served from our own domain (self-hosted), so viewing the site sends no requests to third-party font networks or content-delivery providers that could set cookies on their behalf. The one third-party request a page does make is to load the Google Analytics script; that script sets no cookies and stores nothing until you accept.
The Conversation Matcher app
This policy covers the website. The mobile app is governed by its own terms — see the Application Privacy Policy and our main Privacy Policy.
If this ever changes
We ask for your consent before any non-essential cookie is set, as required under the EU GDPR and ePrivacy rules (and the Dutch Telecommunicatiewet). If we ever add a further non-essential cookie, we will update this page and ask again — we will not quietly widen what an earlier “Accept” covered.
Managing storage in your browser
You can clear site data and local storage at any time through your browser’s privacy or history settings. Doing so simply resets your theme preference the next time you visit.
